Those of you who have been following the Library Thing Conference, will be aware that it has been suggested that this group would make a good place to publisise events that LTers can attend. Book festivals, Conventions, literary lunches, book signings, monthly meets, the possibilities are many. Andrew you control the description. want to broaden the manifesto? or should I start a separate group.

Hi Simon, I've updated the description (any suggestions welcome on improving it are also welcome) - I think this is certainly a suitable place for those discussions to take place, they certainly fall under the category of LT publicity. :)

It is possibly worth inviting all of the LT authors to this group so that they at least can publicise their own signing tours?

yes please do:^) I wonder if Abby would amend the LT authors page to suggest that they do this.

Readercon 18, July 6-9th, Burlington Marriott, Burlington, Massachusetts (outside of Boston). Guests of Honor Karen Joy Fowler and Lucius Shepard. Memorial Guest of Honor Angela Carter. Annual literary convention for readers of all manner of SF, fantasy, horrror and everything inbetween. Over 120 professionals in the field featured (a list will be posted on the website in the near future of "pros" who have confirmed they are coming this year). For more information see the Readercon Conversations Group or the convention's website www.readercon.org Attendance at convention usually around 5-600.

Huge ballroom bookshop featuring 50 plus tables of BOOKS from 20 plus dealers. Programming features panel discussions, readings, autographings...etc. Programming will feature a LT item on Saturday. We may also schedule a meetup slightly off convention, so others in the area who don't want to do the convention, can meet. Maybe lunch in the hotel?

I count about 10 I know who are coming. Tim and Abby have been invited for the panel discussion/LT presentation (whatever it turns out to be).

I copied this under its its own heading since I think it is a good idea to separate the notices. and use a standard format heading of
Event, Date and place.

Excellent. I think that's an ideal way to do it. Otherwise, it's too confusing to pick out - or merely notice - the things happening which might be of interest to you.

I agree, why didn't I think of that?:-)

I agree with your suggestion. I am new to Librarything but i am certainly happy to be here. I am considering creating seperate groups for each of the book groups in the San Francisco Eastbay with basic information and reading lists and schedules. When I ran a reading group i posted information in a Yahoo group but i could never get anyone interested in joining the yahoo group so i gave up. I figure if a start a few groups the idea will catch on and others can take over. Also we have one a year the one city one read events at select cities which i thing a group for that would be great as well.
