Poetry (I like Mary Oliver, Ellen Bass, Andrea Gibson, Langston Hugues, Jericho Brown, Ross Gay among others). Historical fiction, coming of age stories, stories with strong female leads, multicultural literature. Non-fiction interests include outdoor escapes, travel, environmental writing, neuroscience.

Other notes

As much as possible I am working to read woman authors and authors of color.

ravensquad100: Blood Water Paint by Joy McCullough is a really good novel in verse about a young Italian girl (in the Renaissance era) who gets SAed and depicts the sexism that she faced in the aftermath. Another good book is The Disordered Mind by Eric Kandel it gives an understandable introduction to many mental illnesses though the lens of neuroscience. (Nov 28, 2023, 9:22pm)
