Book tastes

George RR Martin-type fantasy, trenchant, verisimilitude strong writing. Same with horror: Dan Simmons (Drood!), Stephen King, Mark Frost (currently reading The List of 7) Dean Koontz can be good, Preston & Child co-written novels, along those lines.
Adventure novels are fine, in Jack London vein for novels, man against nature with a real story.
Non-fiction: Buddhist writings like Pema Chodron, Thich Nhat Hanh. Real-life adventure/explorers, like Jon Krakauer, maybe Liv Arnesen, others I don't know of. I love the ocean and am fascinated by places like Norway and Sweden, Iceland ice and snow.
Smart, funny, brutal, intellectual, heartfelt, passionate British/Irish writers' novels; Benjamin Black, Nick Hornby, Iain Pears, A.S. Byatt, Hilary Mantel, (read all of Wolf Hall trilogy) Gaiman and Pratchett, Muriel Spark, Tana French (only not read The Trespasser and The Witch Elm) etc;
British mysteries, murder mysteries, dark London alleys. Collections are okay. I'm eclectic in my tastes; intellectual, passionate, love sci-fi/horror/some fantasy. Surprise me! Thank you for being my Library Thing Secret Santa!

Don't get this!

Cheesy bodice-rippers. Outlander turned out to be a nice TV adaptation but anything like that I don't enjoy reading.
