More books than I have time to read, even after culling a whole bunch due to space constraints after moving from a house, to a one-bedroom apartment, to a studio, back to a one-bedroom. It reflects the odd tastes of two very different people whose reading habits overlap in unexpected but welcome ways.

At any one time, I'm either reading zero or three or four books. I start many more books than I finish, and I've been known to abandon a book, only to pick it up again months or years later and find that it's become a favorite. I'm interested in a lot of topics, from economics to photography, critical theory to business history, sociology to sports. I am enamored by what Mary Gaitskill calls the "secret language of little complicated things".
