Sobre mí

My name is Sonya. My friends from the old days (insert here a big ole shout out to the ‘Ham) call me Sunny D. Hence the name of the blog. Also, I enjoy a good adventure from time to time!

Let’s see…about me. I am a librarian. I love databases, the world wide web and old smelly books (equally), planning library programs (I like to put the “fun” in business function), government documents, creating PowerPoint presentations and finding hard to find information (in my head I liken being a librarian to being an information detective). I used to tend bar (for a really, really long time). I made a lot of great friends that way. Then, one day, I slung my last cup o’ chowdah and was ready for a change. Though, I do still moonlight…for fun and extra Jacksons (thankfully they do not serve chowdah). I had a brief stint as a sailor, also. I am not a great sailor, I got by – but I am pretty great at drinking Mt. Gay, talking like a pirate, riding in tenders (or riding donkeys), driving mopeds in Bermuda, making fun of people counting down wind gusts (hello Team Streaker) and the other hijinxs that accompany a life on the high seas. I’ll share some stories in one of these blogs…

I live in Maine with my BF, Mark and our new pup – Bourbon. At this point, I am pretty much obsessed her.

When I am not working I like to hang w/ Mark (and now Bourbs, too). We are looking forward to some big adventures in the future. Fingers crossed, Panama will be next!

I like smiling, salmon sashimi, the sun (yes, I know it is bad for me), red wine, white pizza w/ lots o’ garlic, sailing, snowboarding, my new surfboard (thanks Mark – I promise to actually use it!!!), champagne, camping, rodeos, heavy metal (most especially GNR – best band EVER), hanging with my friends (which happens not nearly enough – sad face), Guinness, karaoke (don’t judge), hiking, oysters, anything w/ chipotle, learning new things, jogging, dark chocolate, red wine, dark chocolate and red wine together, speaking Spanglish, snowshoes, the color orange, meeting new people, dogs (especially MY dog), stand up comedy and my big ole crazy family (you know who you are :) ).

I don’t like mean people, war nor cotton candy.
