My library is the heart of a very friendly school in a rural area in Charleston County, St. Paul's Parish, in the town of Hollywood, South Carolina. The name of my school is Baptist Hill Junior/Senior High. I have been at Baptist Hill for about five years. Our school is improving, and our library is growing. We have about 460 students, so everyone knows everyone. Since we talk about everything else, it seems natural to talk about what we are reading.

I went to a conference session and heard how Librarian Tracy Witz is using Library Thing as a tool to generate face to face book discussions between students and faculty about books that connect to the curriculum. I liked the idea and decided to give it a try. I will introduce Library Thing to my library intern students, book club members, and book club teacher first, and pilot it that way to see how people like it. Then, if it is a success, we will invite the rest of the school to join.
