Huge crime fiction section though preferably not too much noir or tedious serial killers, plenty of history, both fact and fiction, lots of clever humour, and a selection of the classics (Dickens, Austen, Burney, Gaskill). Also a bit of drama and poetry, Shakespeare, Shaw, sundry very diverse poets ancient and modern.

I write the Murray of Letho crime series set in Georgian Scotland (St. Andrews and Edinburgh mostly, so far), but it has to be squeezed in between teaching, other paid work, knitting, gardening, weaving, felting, experimental archaeology (dyeing a shirt with onion skins and then wondering how to get the smell out, for example ...), factual writing and occasionally sleeping (sleeping far too much, actually, going to have to give that one up!).
