I have the same tastes in books that I have in music, which is to say, eclectic. I love romance, suspense, horror, sci fi, and even a little non-fiction as well. I will admit that while I enjoy many of the classics, I am a romantic at heart and dislike unhappy stories. I tell my husband all the time that life is tragic enough, I don't want to subject myself to even more tragedy in my entertainment. Consequently, I vastly prefer stories that will end on a happy note, the good guys win, the villain is vanquished, love conquers all, etc.

I've been an avid reader my entire life, or at least as far back as I can remember. I thank my mother for that. She always read to me, always. I still have the books of fairy tales she used to read to me and my children's Bible stories as well. All through elementary I read like crazy. I had a massive collection of books by the time I entered Jr. High and High School and my mother, who was a 2nd grade teachers assistant used to take my books to school with her to read to her kids.
