As I am primarily here to get recommendations for other books I might enjoy, I have not only listed the books I own, but those belonging to others that I have read and enjoyed. Still, about 95% of those listed sit happily on the bookshelves in my flat, so I don't feel too guilty about it!

London law librarian, mid 20s, loves reading, hates law.

I like to think I support independent book shops, but also think that Waterstone's 3 for 2 is one of the best things that ever happened :s I like what I like and am unapologetic about it. My tastes lean towards contemporary or post colonial themes, with the odd childrens, factual or poetry book thrown in. I loathe pre 20th century fiction, having wasted a week reading Wuthering Heights out of a sense of obligation and hating every moment of it. I fail to understand why so much emphasis is placed on reading "the classics" in school when there is so much excellent contemporary fiction being published that has far more to say to today's children than Pride and Prejudice or Room with a Fricking View!

As you can see, I have a lot of opinions about literature and reading and the teaching thereof :p
