Some of the authors who feature heavily are people I was into when younger; since I can never bring myself to throw a book away, they may not necessarily reflect my current tastes, which have veered away from (science-) fiction/fantasy to popular science, "social anthropology" (for want of a better term), language, etc.

Other interests given away by these books include typography and type design, atheism, and the graphic art of M C Escher.

All books here are owned by me. I boggle at the idea of listing books that one has merely read in some long-forgotten year. Audio recordings (tape or CD) go in if they've got an ISBN or are clearly a reading of a book, as do CD-ROM editions of reference books. I can't be doing with people entering videos/DVDs of movies or music on here though.

Unless it was utter tripe, I would not think of throwing a book away. Fortunately, I am a good enough judge-of-books-by-their-covers that I seldom acquire a book that I think is utter tripe. Duplicates I might give away to family or charities.

Because I worked for a publisher I have accumulated reading matter quicker than I can read it, so my "to read" collection is getting bigger...

My first job was in a library. It was only a Saturday job stacking shelves. People would come up to us and ask stupid questions like "Where's Catherine Cookson?"
