Sobre mí

My mom, her brother, their father and grandfather had all published stories, whether news articles, travelogues, letters, fiction or poetry. My dad, often while brandishing a vodka martini, enchanted friends with colorful accounts of characters he'd known. Mom read to us from what are now called "chapter books", usually animal stories like Wind in the Willows, 101 Dalmatians, Dr. Doolittle as well as Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss. In short, I grew up in a family who loved reading and writing.

So I learned to love literature and spent years writing short stories and poems, with limited success, and successfully published magazine and book essays, anthology chapters, and academic research. My novel, Sylvie Denied, was published 2-22-22 when Covid was supposed to have ended but the country was still locked down so it was a difficult birth. The book follows the awakening consciousness of a girl from childhood into adulthood during the mid-20th century, exploring her awareness of her reality as a female.

I now have a book under contract that's about religious revival in the mid-20th century, and am working on a follow-up for that.
