About a decade ago, I started having extreme dental problems that led to 28(+) root canals, not quite as many oral surgeries and a lot of down time. Voracious reading helped me through it. I started off with Christine Feehan, Charlaine Harris and the more intense paranormal dramas. From there I found the laugh out loud paranormal authors like Molly Harper, Dakota Cassidy, MaryJanice Davidson and Katie MacAlister. I found a happy medium with Gena Showalter, JR Ward, Kresley Cole, Sherrilyn Kenyon and others.
Historical Fiction: The Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series by Anne Perry. I loved it at first, and still like it, but I wanted something that felt a bit younger and not as dry. Victoria Thompson's Gaslight series set in Manhattan is fascinating and fun, as murders go! My favorites are CS Harris, Tasha Alexander, Deanna Rayborne for starters.
