Virginia War Memorial
Sobre mi biblioteca
The U.S.S. Birmingham Research Library is home to a non-circulating collection of works that inform about Virginia’s involvement in war, the role of Virginians at war, and that supports the research needs of the Virginia War Memorial’s staff. The library also contains a variety of training manuals prepared by all branches of the U.S. Military.

The library was named in memory of the sailors who died aboard the USS Birmingham in World War II.
Sobre mí
Completed on February 29, 1956, the Memorial is the Commonwealth of Virginia’s premier monument, museum, and educational center honoring all Virginians who demonstrated a willingness to serve and defend the United States from World War II through today.

Through educational programs, community outreach, documentary films, and patriotic events and exhibits, the Virginia War Memorial preserves, interprets, and shares with the public and scholars the firsthand experiences of those who served and their families on the homefront.
