Bernt Balchen Lodge Viking Library

Viking Library is located in Viking Hall and is one of the benefits available to Bernt Balchen Lodge members. The Library collects materials with a Scandinavian subject focus, including:

Norwegian cultural skills (e.g. woodworking, wooden boat building, rosemaling, knitting, food preparation)
Norwegian language skills (e.g. textbooks, dictionaries)
Norwegian literature (historic and contemporary fiction, in Norwegian and English)
Children's books
Scandinavian history (e.g. World War II, Nobel prizes, artists)
Scandinavians in Alaska (e.g. Mat-Su settlers, Sami reindeer herding)
Scandinavian travel and culture (e.g. Viking Magazine, travel books)

Library materials may only be checked out by current Lodge members. Non-members and other interested individuals may contact the Lodge Librarian to request in-library use of materials.

The Library does not have regularly scheduled hours, but is open during many Lodge events or by appointment.

The Library welcomes donations of new or gently-used materials.
