Sobre mi biblioteca
My library reflects my travels. My main interests are the German "Sturm und Drang" and the French Romantic movements, the "Nouveau Roman," and the literature of post-war Germany. I often go back to my favourite Irish writers when in search of grounding - nothing like the imagery of the wild Atlantic and the Blasket Islands to pull you back to Earth in the midst of a raging pandemic (Tomás Ó Criomhthain, Peig Sayers and Muiris Ó Súilleabháin). My background is in finance and economics, so I try to keep up to speed on economic writings. I think we're on the cusp of a new "Social Contract" with some big economic changes for humanity around the corner. This is way overdue. I LOVE Yuval Noah Harari. I also read a lot of business books - both as a Judge for the Annual London Business Book Awards and for my own interest. Most recently, I've been taking a strong interest in psychology, in particular the writings of Kahneman, Pink, and Ariely. And I'm developing an enthusiasm for "Buddism light" - I love the writings of Pema Chödrön. I love linguistics and the history of language - after all, language is the geology of the mind. I'm fascinated by how language has evolved in line with the story of human migration across the planet (I geek out on this). I'm also a closet fan of Asterix, Just William and Karl May, as well as Wainwright's drawings of the English Lake District.
