- I don't think I've ever met a librarian who wasn't an inveterate reader and collector of books. Actually becoming a librarian was the best thing that ever happened to me; I'm able to buy books for my library that I also am interested in reading so it keeps my home collection to the books I adore and reread all the time or my more esoteric collections that wouldn't fit the library's collection development policy. My husband has said that in addition to earning a salary, my job saves us thousands of dollars a year!
