I'm an author writing books about gay teens.

My first book, A SECRET EDGE, is about a runner (Jason Peele) who falls for a boy from India and finds himself learning about Hindu philosophy, the concept of violence vs. non-violence, and figuring out that honesty and being true to oneself are his path to being happy.

My second book, THINKING STRAIGHT, tells the story of Taylor Adams, a Christian boy whose parents put him into a deprogramming center to straighten him out. He learns how to be true both to himself and to his religion, and the story has a very positive approach to this topic.

The only thing wrong with being gay is how some people treat you when they find out. Until everyone understands this, growing up gay — or even being grown up and gay — takes a lot of guts. Straight or gay, the objective should be acceptance. Tolerance is better than hatred, but who wants to be tolerated? Let's go for acceptance.
