Ik hou van een beetje humor, een goed geschreven verhaal, een compleet andere wereld.

I came rather late to 'books'. Of course I read some books, but being raised on television and video games those where my refuge.

Being 40, I found a natural urge for intellectual growth if you will.

TV-Shows became documentaries and good movies, while video games became books.

Books that bring you another world. Books like Lord of the Rings, Discworld, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I do not read books that others read because they have the image of being 'the right' books to read. They not seldom bore me. I like to be entertained. I truly dislike to be lectured by an author in his/her stories.

When a book does not keep me wanting to read it, I just lay it aside and pick up something else. There are too many good books out there that will grab me.

Despite being Dutch I read mostly in English. I find that a lot gets lost in translation. While I have a good grasp on the English language I tend to read slower in English then in my birth language. Nevertheless it seems this way I get more enjoyment out of the stories.
