Having grown up in the Midwest and California, I also had the benefit of family travels that included visits to friends in then-Communist Czechoslovakia. I've published short fiction in literary and genre magazines and now have two books forthcoming. Magnetic Woman: Toyen and the Surrealist Erotic (University of Pittsburgh Press, November 2020) investigates the life and work of one of surrealism's most enigmatic artists. In Search of the Magic Theater (Regal House Publishing, spring 2022) is a novel that reimagines Hermann Hesse's Steppenwolf set in 1999 with the main characters' genders switched.
