I have books all over my house and lots of bookshelves. I have no idea how many books I've read. I do enjoy reading literary classics, art books, political books, all manner of novels and health books, but generally I have somewhat eclectic reading tastes. I love the feel and smell of hardback and paperback books in my hands, and the act of turning the pages, although I have read a few on Kindle.

I'm the author or co-author of three novels including my latest, Final Return: Return of the Neanderthals. Formally released on Halloween, Final Return is a zany science fiction thriller which moves in scenes rather than chapters, something like a Marx Brothers movie. My second novel, the well-reviewed Heathcliff: The Lost Years, is the story of one of literature's greatest lovers never-before-explained three year absence from Wuthering Heights. It's an astounding romantic adventure, the story of a man haunted and transformed by love. My first novel was Introducing the Richest Family in America, a madcap comedy set in Montecito, California.

Lately I've been focusing my efforts on novels, but I'm also the author or co-author of seven nonfiction books, a good many artist's books, and one book of poetry.

I attended the University of Iowa's Writer's Workshop and earned an MFA. I have also worked as a newspaper reporter, a craps dealer, a funeral director, an inner city schoolteacher, a ranch foreman, a hot tamale vendor, and a freelance journalist.
