I am an academic happily retired from the teaching rat race so that now I can pursue my personal interests in my field (linguistics) without having to deal with the aggravations of grading and record keeping. My current obsession is all things Norse. The history of the Vikings, the origins of the Scandinavian languages, Scandinavian crime fiction, Arctic exploration, Inuit and Sami culture and anything which can be related, however tangentially, to the far north. I am also a life long reader of science fiction.
