BHPS has the most extensive Jewish interest library in the South of England, outside London. The collection covers a wide range of books of religious and secular interest, some of rare historical interest.

Instructions on how to use the catalogue:

LibraryThing is a vast collection of catalogues belonging to individuals and small institutions. In order not to get lost in the maze of other people's libraries, stick to the search box for BHPS. (In your use of the catalogue, you may come across details of other members who have the same book as us - you can just ignore all that - unless you find it interesting of course!)

To find books in the catalogue, make sure the 'All Collections' tab in the top left corner is showing - this is the complete listing for our library.

'Tags' refer to the sub-categories within each collection - and each book's classification number.

If you would like to browse categories of books, click on the down arrow next to 'All collections' and then click on a category that interests you. To see the sub-categories, click then on 'Tags.' A long list of classification numbers will appear, but so too will the sub-categories. Click on whichever one you would like to explore further and the books in that section will appear.

Our children's books are not listed in the catalogue, but are available to members to borrow.

When you find a book you'd like to borrow, please visit the library and find the book on the shelf using the classification number listed under 'Tags', eg J CHA or A4 CAR. Then write down the details in the borrowers' book in the basket on the table.
