I am a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur, India. My academic interests include Continuum Mechanics, Differential Geometry, Applied Mathematics, Defects in Solids, History and Physics of Indian Musical Instruments, and History of Indian Mechanics.

My non-academic inclinations are presently in the areas of Indian art history (ragamala paintings, symbolism, tradition, aestheics), musicology (translating texts, musical instruments, evolution of traditions), Hindi poetry (of the likes of Muktibodh and Vinod Kumar Shukla), Indian philosophy (Gopinath Kaviraj, Abhinavgupta), Western Poetry (of the likes of Rilke, Holderin, Heine).
