Biggest Disappointments

aulsmith: Found it nearly incomprehensible.

aulsmith: Too long and episodic without an overall point.

aspirit: Feels like insanity. Don't know why I should want to experience that voluntarily.

aulsmith: Expecting an interesting book on intersexuality--there was a lot of interesting stuff, but not on gender.

aulsmith : Not really a sequel to American Gods. A marketing mistake. I loved what he did with the women.

ahef1963: I like Verne so much but was put to sleep by this adventure.

ahef1963: I'd liked The Scarlet Letter so much that I was hoping this one would be as good; it turned out to be extremely dull.

ahef1963: Did not like. Possibly because my husband had just left me - I probably wouldn't have liked any book.

ahef1963: One of the authors I like the best, and I couldn't get through his most famous work.

Cecrow: So much potential, so little happens. But the sequels are better.

jain: I couldn't read more than a couple of pages, the writing style was *so bad*.

ahef1963: I enjoyed it but was disappointed to find out that it was fictional.

ahef1963: Have made three attempts to read this book as I generally love White's writing, but it was unreadable.
