Nonfiction Books that need to be Translated into English

pomonomo2003: Alcibiades! Alcibiades! Alcibiades! He has been called the first stateless man, and the first individual. Feared, hated, lauded and Used by Athens, Sparta and Persia. How is this not translated?

pomonomo2003: Nolte flirts with holocaust denial, - which is worse than silly. That said, I am very interested in reading how he links the Soviets and the Nazis.

bluepiano: Torga's a thoughtful & skilful writer of fiction & non-fiction, and I'd love to read much more of his journal than I've done.

pomonomo2003: An important history of the only far right-wing movement to rival -at its best- the thoughtful depths of the best Marxist luminaries. (I am thinking of the Existential Marxists, Frankfurt School, and Western Marxism.) I am told that this history, by an advocate to be sure, is the best out there.

pomonomo2003: In my opinion, Todd is the most important social anthropologist of our time. His delineation of family types, and how these are predictive of political, religious, and social structures is among the most thought provoking positions I've ever read. This book is to be the first volume of (what he calls) his 'life-work'. I should live long enough to see all volumes translated!

pomonomo2003: I cannot _believe_ that this has never been translated. Do I think it is scholarly by today's standards? No, of course not. But I think it is a very important document in the reception of Averroes here in the West.

pomonomo2003: Very little of Lukacs Ontology has been translated into English. I can't even find any of the untranslated parts in the original language here on LT! Still untranslated are: Neo-Positivismus und Existentialismus, Nikolai Hartmanns Vorstoss zu einer echten Ontologie, Die Reproduktion, Das Ideelle und die Ideologie, Die Entfremdung, Die Prolegomena, Die gegenwartige Problemlage.

pomonomo2003: A Nietzschean Constructivist who believes that History doesn't have Meaning; but rather is given meanings.

pomonomo2003: Philosophical Anthropology and Cosmology rarely are discussed together. This should happen more often.

pomonomo2003: The question of Truth in Nietzsche is an important one. This book is often cited in the secondary literature. I would like to have a looksee myself.

pomonomo2003: This book is by the Kantian Afrikan Spir. It is a largely overlooked influence on Nietzsche.

pomonomo2003: Merleau-Ponty wrote a critical, but also appreciative, essay on this (ahem) 'moderate' fascist. If he was worth M-P's time, I think it is likely he is worth mine.

pomonomo2003: I don't believe this translation was ever published. If the translation was made, publish it. If not, please do so. Kofman is a noted interpreter of Nietzsche. In this book she tackles his "Ecce Homo".

bluepiano: There's a good English selection from Renard's copious diaries that made me want to read much more.
