Broadside: For SALE at PUBLIC VENDUE, On THURSDAY the 10th Day of March, at the late Dwelling House of Pierre Eugene du Simitiere, Esq. In Arch-street, between Third and Fourth Streets, where the State Lottery Office is now kept, THE AMERICAN MUSÆUM. This curious Collection was, for many Years, the principal Object of Mr. Du Simitiere's Attention, and has been thought worthy of Notice by both American and European Literati: It consists of the following Articles, which will be sold in Lots, viz. .... Philadelphia, printed by Charles Cist, at the Corner of Fourth and Arch-streets. [1785]. Broadside, with the list of lots printed in four columns. Evans 18402.

Noted in George L. McKay, American Book Auction Catalogues 1713-1934: A Union List. New York Public Library (1937), p. 52. He also cites Robert F. Roden's Book Sales (1900) that the Library Company of Philadelphia purchased many of the books, particularly those in Lot 17.

Advertisement text (8 and 9 March): "To be Sold at Public Auction, On Thursday the 10th instant, at the late Dwelling-House of Pierre Eugene Du Simitiere, esquire, in Arch-street, near Fourth-street (where the State Lottery-Office is now kept) that very curious and extensive Collection of Books, pamphlets, newspapers, prints, drawings, coins, shells, natural and artificial curiosities, Indian antiquities, dresses, weapons, utensils, &c. &c. which has long been known by the Name of The American Musæum. The Sale to begin at 10 o'clock, A.M. and the collection will be divided into lots, for the accommodation of purchasers. Matthew Clarkson, Ebenezer Hazard, Administrats. Philadelphia, March 3, 1785."

The issue for 10 March substitutes "This Day" for "On Thursday."
