Advertisement (same text on 8, 15, and 22 December): "To be Sold by AUCTION the 23d Instant at the Sign of the Light-House in King Street, Boston, beginning at 3 a Clock Afternoon, a Choice Collection of Books, being the greatest part of the Libaries [sic] of the late Rd. and Learned Divines, Mr. Joshua Moodey and Mr. Daniel Gookin, Deceased; together with a parcel of Books Imported from London in October last. Catalogues are Printed for, and given out Gratis by Samuel Gerrish Bookseller near the Old Meeting House, by whom the Books are to be shewn from Thursday Decemb. 18th until the Day of Sale." The contents of this library cannot, unfortunately, be separated from the books of Rev. Gookin which were included in the same sale, though with some persuasion one might be able to determine which were the newly-imported titles. |
