How the Quakers Invented America por David Yount
The author shows, from the days of the colonies, revolution and founders to the civil rights movements of modern times, Quakers and the Society of Friends have shaped the basic distinctive features of American life: freedom, equality, community, straightforwardness, and spirituality.
I gave this three stars because the writing was very clear and concise. I felt there was too much content regarding 'why' the Quaker way is better than others. The first chapter and the conclusion were the best parts of the book. The title may have been better defined as 'HOW LIVING IN AMERICA RE-INVENTED THE QUAKERS'
My mother said that her mother was a Quaker but I did not get any help or hints on how to know more about the Quakers in Kentucky South of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Some very good resources were mentioned in the book about the general Quaker evolution.

David Yount presents suggestions for "simplifying" your life in areas of your work, home, and family to get more enjoyment and happiness out of living. Many practical solutions ranging from decluttering your space to spending less on vacations, finding work that is enjoyable rather than just a living, to finding the right mate.
He describes how he used these principles in his own life and marriage. Very readable, gentle humor, and lots of wisdom.
