I got this free from the Early Reviewers and I have enjoyed reading it. It has some great ideas about how to re-claim wasted energy. The approach is several pronged, stressing that physical activity, good nutrition, and healthy emotional responses will help us gain more energy and make more efficient use of the time we have. For me, the biggest thing I got from the book was realizing how much energy I waste on negative emotions and how to gain better control of those.

I glanced through this book just before Christmas and decided to give it to my father and my father-in-law as well as myself. It's full of information most of us probably knew anyway but also contains specific ways to start getting more out of every day. It's well organized, easy to read, and easy to implement. For anyone who thinks they are just too busy to get fit/healthy/energetic...think again!

I really like the Human Kinetics series overall, and this recent addition is equally valuable. Woods and Jordan present a comprehensive guide to maintaining energy through fitness, nutrition, and attitude. Their principles are based on the latest research, which they cite in a way that is convincing without making this book too academic. I'm continually impressed by how much the expert consensus continues to evolve. For example, the latest findings show we don't need less sleep as we get older. It's a very readable book, with plenty of pictures, especially to illustrate strength training exercises. I'd recommend it equally to a beginner who is "going to start" and to someone who already has a solid routine.… (más)

This book is the real deal. It goes beyond basic exercises and discusses the real issue behind any exercise program - motivation. They help you remove the barriers to exercising by addressing common reasons we don't exercise or don't stay motivated over time. The authors work to help you find exercises you enjoy and can fit into your lifestyle instead of using a one size fits all approach. They also discuss common reasons for quitting and what you can do about it if you find yourself slowing down or losing interest.

The book is broken up into three main parts: energy, self-assessment and creating a personal action plan. The material is top-notch, there are dozens of instructional color illustrations of exercises and a few forms to assess your fitness preferences.

They've provided everything you need to begin and maintain a regular, healthy exercise routine. I look forward to seeing the results.
