Title: After the Devil Has Won
Author(s): Rick Wood
Character(s):
Cia Rose: 17 years old, Black, Green Eyed
James "Boy" : 11-12 years old
Setting:
Tag(s): Science Fiction
Content Rating: R
POV: Third Person (Heroine)
Smexy Level: Hot
Favorite Quote(s):
― “The devil has departed, And you are not alone.”
Overall Opinion:
This post apocalyptic thriller had me going with Cia on a wild journey in finding the Boy after becoming separated from an attack by one of the hellish monsters that wreak havoc in their everyday lives. It was a fast paced, well written novel that nearly blew me away and it was an impressive introductory to this author for me. Despite being a 300 page novel, it felt so much shorter than it actually was and I was pleasantly surprised I was able to finish this in one sitting. The plot, character development, the author's ability to betray autism in a realistic light and how the novel concluded won me over. Needless to say I will be keeping a close eye on what the author comes out with next.

This collection of 12 short stories was frightfully festive. While not all were my cup of eggnog I did particularly enjoy Track Santa and the clever way it was spread over 3 installments through out the book. The Christmas Card Trap was also chilling fun, as was learning what poor scrooge went through in A Christmas Carol: The Aftermath. I have just learned there is a second volume of Christmas horror stories from this author and I'm very likely to buy it as well.

This was a creepy omnibus which I am going do one backstory for all three books.

A small backstory without giving away spoilers:

Julian and April team up with a man named Oscar and end up recruiting him to help them with demonic activity. Julian and April are paranormal investigators that are called "Sensitives" and they help people with demonic possessions. Oscar has a unique ability as he can see demons that are associated with people, but he has to learn to control what he sees or the demons will consume his soul.

All three of them go through demonic possession cases as they try to exorcise the demons, but each one of them goes through something each time they do it leaving scars on their souls. When they come up against certain type of demons is when things go from bad to worse as they try to fight the forces of evil from the depths of hell!

Thoughts:

Each book is continuous from the previous one and this series is literally saturated in demonic activity with tons of things that happen within the storylines to not only the characters but the possessions of the people they exorcise as well.

There are other supporting characters as well within these stories. I was impressed by how fast I was drawn into the storyline and in some instances I would stay up late reading the book. Giving this omnibus five "demon-spooky" stars.

Wow! This book was like being on a upside down roller coaster and being suspended in midair for hours on end as the heart thumping suspense kept me turning pages at break neck speed!

I started this book early yesterday morning and literally read this book within 24 hours as I just could not put this book down! This was also a new author to me and I am happy to say that I have about six more books by him on my kindle!

A little backstory for you readers:

What lengths would you go to save your mother if she was dying from cancer? That is what happens to three siblings (Amber, Luke, and Graham) as they would do anything to save their mom. A new treatment that is in the process of being tested is available and it could very well prolong their mother's life. The kicker though is the new treatment is way out of their price range and they have no way to afford it, UNLESS they get the money by other means.

Luke and Amber end up following a man in a Mercedes one night which leads them to a high class neighborhood with wrought iron gates. When they see that the man lives in a mansion they know that this is the place that would be loaded with all kinds of treasure. So begins their plan of robbing the house and they talk their brother Graham into accompanying them.

What the siblings do not know is that the man hides a terrible secret and when they find out what lays beyond some of the rooms in the house is when they know that they are doomed.

Who is the man? What is he hiding? What do the rooms in the house contain? Do the siblings make it out of the house alive? No spoilers here as you will just have to read the book!

This book was so fast paced that I had a hard time laying it down as I wanted to keep seeing what was going to happen next!

The first chapter and literally the first two to three pages starts out with some hack/slash or slice and dice whichever you prefer keeping the storyline moving quickly. The ending had a major twist that left me breathless and though it didn't really end on a cliffhanger it ended in a way that makes me think there could be another book in the future. Five stars for this one!
