William L. Wolf

After another miserable dry spell - book after book that didn't meet my 50 page rule and one that I read until the last 50 pages and realized I just didn't care what happened! - this was more than a delight. The author information says that William Wolf is a pseudonym of a journalist who wishes to remain anonymous. I don't really care who he is as long as he's prolific! It's 1978. The don of the Detroit mafia is on his last legs and his successor is the question. The pickings are not real good. The don's grandson who has spent a whole lot of energy distancing himself from the whole mafia thing is barely even in the running but the don didn't get to be the don by chance - he's a wise old bird. He puts his grandson through a mini-school of mafia-ism with the graduation exercise to bump off Jimmy Hoffa. The characters are marvelous and the plot is both well crafted and tons of fun.… (más)
