For those interested in research as to what really went on in Holland during the Holocaust and afterwards, this book is a must read. The author did a remarkable job in interviewing survivors of the 'hidden children' situation and how it has affected them. Actual interviews are throughout the book, and since little of this has been made public, it makes for interesting but sad reading. Most of us think of the Holocaust as to how it affected those in the death camps, survivors and victims who were killed. Nothing has been written on such an intensive rendition as this book has done. The Netherlands is thought of as being tolerant towards others, and in fact, how they were so helpful during the Holocaust to the Jews, but this research has turned up some other observations. The reader must stay open to the research and experiences related by seventy Jewish men and women who, as children, were hidden during the Nazi occupation of Holland. This book gives another side of the Holocaust, one that is never spoken of. Written in a gentle, compassionate way, the author tells a story that must be told to complete the Holocaust history.… (más)
