Well done and wonderfully visceral.

This was too mellow. I expected something with many teeth and a lot of juice, but it was tame. Very tame. We still don’t know who hired the kidnappers. I assumed it was in Tracht’s direct interest to find out, but I guess he was either sloppy or not as possessive as the author claims him to be or just... didn’t give crap about his family business and personal belongings? I am still hoping he pulls himself together in book three and the culprit gets what he/she deserves.

Warnings: ATM; urophagia; short episode of twincest (same sex, of course).

First two items from the warnings is very much not my thing at all.

Shaming and humiliating a guy by putting him in women's clothes is also not my thing.
Nothing wrong with women's clothing as far as I am concerned, no matter how skimpy. Anyone heard of humiliating a woman by putting her in men's attire? I certainly didn't ....unless it's to "empower" her, not the other way around. Maybe I am missing some point here, but that's my opinion on things, hence 3.75 stars instead of 5.… (más)

This is one of those reviews I struggle with. Did I really enjoy the book? Well no, not as such. The subject matter is dark, confronting and shows a side of humanity that we'd often rather not acknowledge I think. There's a strong element of dub-con and the only thing that saves it from being non-con is the fact that one MC signed the contract thus giving his consent. Coercion, mind-games, and psychological conditioning all are part of this as well and none of it makes for a comfortable read.

However, the book was compelling. The characters were extremely well-written and intriguing to get to know. The setting is sci-fi which helps alleviate some of the discomfort I experienced while reading this. But, to be honest, I believe that this is a book where the author doesn't want you to be comfortable. It's meant to be confronting. It's dark and sadistic and unashamedly so. Do I want to read it again? No, not really. Having said that, I'm definitely looking into the next book of the series, because I honestly do want to read that one. I suppose I do have a bit of a masochist in me, lol.
