Mr. Wilson explains his concept of how the development and use of the hand has shaped human intelligence over the ages. It is an interesting topic and becomes very broad in his presentation. I am glad I read the book, although it was slow reading at times.
"In this absorbing blend of anecdote and scientific analysis, professor of neurology Frank Wilson explains how the brain functions in perceiving as well as in creating music. He discusses questions of musical ability, appreciation and theory; suggests encouraging solutions to the problem of stage fright; and always insists that it's never too late to begin." - jacket notes Entertaining and informative - recommended for amateur musicians and music students.
