Julian M. Whitaker Whitaker graduated from Dartmouth College in 1966 and received his M.D. in 1970 from Emory University Medical School. He completed his surgical internship at Grady Memorial Hospital in 1971, and continued in orthopedic surgery at the University of California in San Francisco. In mostrar más 1974, Dr. Whitaker founded the California Orthomolecular Medical Society with four other physicians and Nobel prize-winning scientist, Dr. Linus Pauling. He is also a founder and past president of the American Association for Health Freedom. He has appeared on numerous national television programs, including The Today Show, 48 Hours, Larry King Live, Dateline NBC, Sally Jessy Raphael, PM Magazine, The 700 Club and more. He has also been featured on, of radio broadcasts both national and regional. He is the author of eight books, including "Shed 10 Years in 10 Weeks" and "Reversing Hypertension." Whitaker is founder and director of the Whitaker Wellness Institute in Newport Beach, California, and an editor of Health & Healing, the largest U.S. monthly health newsletter. Very nice cookbook for those who are diabetic. The meals look appetizing and the author appears knowlegeable about food and diet. I look forward to trying out some of the ideas. The emphasis on using egg whites instead of whole eggs is probably now outdated.

From book: This is a book about alternative medical approaches to common diseases and health problems. It is primarily a listing of nutritional and natural remedies that may be overlooked by conventional pyhsicians. You might reasonably ask yourself, why? The simple answer is that there is little money to be made in the use of natural remedies, regardless of how beneficial they may be for the patient. Conventional modern medicine generates over a trillion dollars a year by prescribing patented drugs and costly, often dangerous, invasive diagnostic and surgical techniques. There is an obvious place for these approaches; I use them myself and recommend them when appropriate, but conventional medicine should not exclude the use of safer, often more effective and far less expensive therapies.… (más)
