Wendy moves into Mistletoe Meadows and winds up in quarantine only a month later. She was looking forward the town's Christmas-in-July celebration. Her new neighbor James brings a taste of the town's special enchantment to her door, alleviating the loneliness of her solitary confinement. Though short, this sweet romance was delightful, and every bit as magical as a longer story.

Mistletoe Movie Star, by Stacey Weeks, is a quick, fun Christmas story to read. Jonas has come back to Mistletoe Meadows to take care of his family’s property when he gets reacquainted with childhood friend Char. During their youth, they both visited family in the area but lost track of each other. She is now a veterinarian with a heart for the homeless individuals and he his a wealthy movie star with an abandoned hotel and a generous heart.

This is a wonderful quick read story. The writing is so clear and descriptive, it is easy to imagine people sneaking through windows and the beautiful Mistletoe tree. I felt like I was going back in years walking through tree farms and warming up with hot cider. This is a wonderful story that shows how one person’s image of something good can take root and the whole community steps in to help. I especially loved how Char has decided she was going to take care of animals instead of have a family, and with the love of three sisters, her life has changed so drastically.

I received an ebook copy of this book from the Pelican Book Group through NetGalley, this is my honest review.

Guilt has a way of overtaking our lives, especially when we blame ourself for something that happened. It has a way of either paralyzing us with fear or keeping us locked in a cycle we can not break free from at times.

Grace Stone has dreams and a desire to do something because of the tragic death of her father and sister in the past. Kye Campton just wants to complete his current job as acting camp director in order to move on to his next job.

Both have suffered in the past, but have to try and work past their guilt and hurt. These two characters are like water and oil. Yet both ultimately want to save the camp. The interactions between Kye and his mother as well as Grace and her family bring this story to life.

Add in a bear, some unexplained things that seem like accidents and the plot thickens. I could not put this book down. I wanted Grace and Kye to find their future together free of the pain of the past.

So check out this book for yourself.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

As someone who both attended camp as a child/teenager and later worked as a camp counselor, Stacey Weeks’s In Too Deep sounded like a great read. And I wasn’t disappointed.
At first, Grace and Kye have opposing opinions about Campe Moshe, but it doesn’t take like before they’re supporting and trusting each other. The attraction is almost immediate.
The character development in Grace is excellent as we learn about the tragedy in her past and what drives her. Kye is also well developed, yet I wish he would have shared with Grace about his ex-fiancee at some point in the book, and we, the readers, would have gotten more of that story.
But the suspense it the book is spot-on. Someone is trying to destroy the camp with some pretty harrowing stunts, and Weeks keeps us guessing right along with Kye and Grace. This is a book I recommend to anyone in search of a quick and engaging read with likable characters and some tense moments.
