There's a murderer on the loose in this suspenseful mystery/thriller and Abby Endicott is determined to bring him to justice. Balancing career with romance and family drama is no easy feat, but if anyone can manage it the strong willed Abby can. The tension builds as Abby gets closer to unmasking the truth. This was a dramatic twisty page turner.

I received an advance copy for review.

My Review
The Fens An Abby Endicott Mystery by Pamela Wechsler

I knew I had to read this book when I read the synopsis and found out:

  1. It is set in my hometown of Boston

  2. It is about RedSox Players

  3. It is a Murder Mystery!

  4. It is a series

  5. I loved the way the author wrote in landmarks and kept it totally authentic.

I was not disappointed. This is the second book in the series and while it most definitely may be read as a standalone, I am itching to read the first book because I loved this one so much and I am now addicted to the characters and this series! The story opens with Boston’s chief homicide prosecutor Abby Endicott and her boyfriend TY caught in a false arrest that was racially motivated, the action and drama just intensifies with each page. Soon Abby gets a call to report to Fenway park, it seems a RedSox player has gone missing. Things just go from bad to worse as another player is found murdered. Abby uncovers a web of lies that centers around a key player all while trying to keep her wealthy family off her back about her dangerous choice of career. Her relationship with TY is suffering, her drinking seems to be mirroring her Mothers' who is an alcoholic and her brother and sister-in law are expecting their first child. With all of this side drama Abby is razor sharp and laser focused. I devoured this book it was drama filled, intense and packed a punch with its well delivered lines and epic ending! This book is perfect for anyone who loves a great detective series. This review was originally posted on My Fiction Obsession

This was my first Abby Endicott mystery. I won’t rush to read another, but at some point I’m sure I will. It was an interesting plot: the “whodoneit” is obvious, but how it can be proven, not so much.

The book is marred by the set up of personal problems. Is she or isn’t she an alcoholic? YES! MOVE ON. Is she having an affair or not with her partner? NO! MOVE ON.

In this page-turner Abby wants to find out who murdered her colleague and former boyfriend outside a bar in Jamaica Plain. Meanwhile, she takes over his prosecution of a despicable and violent criminal for a drive-by shooting that killed one and maimed others. Questions of professional impropriety and corruption emerge, adding to the danger Abby faces, and at the same time she is trying to understand her relationship to a thoughtful saxophone musician. This is a quick and enjoyable read, with satisfying surprises and resolutions.… (más)
