An engrossing, heart-warming and brilliantly acted story. Mckenna Grace stars as seven-year-old Mary, a mathematical prodigy. She's sweet, she's feisty, and she's quite insecure too, underneath. The story involves a custody battle, fought between Chris, who has brought Mary up so far, and Evelyn, her grandmother. Chris wants Mary to be an ordinary child, Evelyn wants her talent stretched, so she can 'reach her potential'.

Mary's expressions are exactly right, the script brilliantly written, the direction exactly right - this film is so superlative I'm running out of words. Rated 12, which is about right as the theme of a custody battle is very tense at times and could be stressful for a younger child. There's some 'strong' language too, though not frequently, and one implied scene of intimacy. But for adults and teens, I would recommend this very highly.

A guy falls for a girl who doesn't believe in love.

Nice movie. Well made, especially the writing, but I'd expected more from it. It's cute how they invite comparisons between the main characters and Holly Golightly (from Breakfast at Tiffany's) and Ben Braddock (from The Graduate); one could imagine that this movie started with someone wondering, "What two classic movie characters would be the worst for each other?"

A teenager gets super powers, and his dad's friend gets killy.

Much to my surprise, it's entirely adequately entertaining. There's not much sense comparing it to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. Super hero movies have come a looong way since 2002. This would have been mind-blowing back then. Now, it's superfluous and, apart from the acting, completely forgettable. Even given that it's a remake of a recent film, this level of unoriginality is baffling.

A parade of villains all have an inexplicable hatred of Spider-Man.

It has one good scene - where Electro turns from frightened to evil. The rest of the movie is crap. As a whole, it has no shape or direction. In the details, it makes no sense.
