Biografía breve
Wendy lives with her husband, Tim, and their dog, Chauncie, near the Pacific Northwest’s beautiful Willamette River, in an area surrounded by giant elms, bookstores with cushy chairs, and great theatre. Their house was previously owned by a woman named Cinderella, who bequeathed them a garden of flowers they try desperately (and occasionally successfully) not to kill, and a pink General Electric oven, circa 1948, that makes the kitchen look like an I Love Lucy rerun.

Wendy is a two-time recipient of Romance Writers of America’s RITA Award and was a finalist for Affaire de Coeur’s Best Up-and-Coming Romance Author. When not writing, she likes to take long walks with her dog, settle in for cozy chats with good friends, and sneak tofu into her husband’s dinner.

Surprisingly funny book - it worked better than a lot of others in this type because it poked fun at the characters while keeping them real. No unrealistic lightning flashes and skin sizzles, it was believable attraction that slowly unraveled and didn't do it by hot pants syndrome, but by connection, past history, and humor. Bravo, author. The writing style worked well with what it wanted the accomplish, and the ending wasn't sappy at all, which is a surprise - it was truly sweet and heartfelt. Definitely recommended if you enjoy Harlequins and silhouette.

Oh, and the shrimp/restaurant scene? Best in the book.

So, I love Harlequin books. Even better is finding a new fantastic author who writes for Harlequin books and I can become a devoted fan. I found that in Wendy Warren. Her talent is beyond amazing. She created a complex plot, filled with happiness, sadness, comedy and the true meaning of belonging and family. With her awesome characters, she sucked me into the heart of Honeyford, making me feel a part of her story.

Caleb and Gabby's story is a long time coming, though I am sad to say, I missed the other two installments in this series. Ms. Warren does a fantastic job, however, of bringing her readers up to date on the happenings in Honeyford.

Sweet Caleb. My heart truly went out to him. Growing up, the only family he knew was Gabby's and he long ago fell for the red head. But, knowing she had eyes only for the popular doctor's son, Dean Kingsley, he had to be content with protecting her as a brother would. That is until he moved away. Now he's back, with his 10 year old daughter in tow. The woman of his dreams is about to move on with her life when Dean married someone else. Cal holds a secret that only him and Gabby share. Will it be enough to convince her that she's the woman of his heart?

Gabby is scared to take a risk. After all, she's been pining her whole life for a man she couldn't ever have. She's ready to move on...that is, until Cal Wells returns to Honeyford, with an adorable but handicapped daughter who captured her heart. Can Gabby let go of the past, live for today and be Caleb's bride? Or will she run away for fear of having her heart broken and her love unrequited???

What? You want me to tell you the answers? Sorry! No can do! I don't give spoilers! I'll tell you this. This is most definitely a 5 Book worthy story, that will tug at your heart and leave you wanting more. I am already excited to go back and read the first two books in this series, as well as, hoping for another installment for a trip back to Honeyford and friends!

For some reason I had put this book off for awhile. But I totaly enjoyed reading Caleb's Bride. I like that Gabby's family is close and they open their hearts to Caleb so easy when he need them in his youth.
Gabby had taken over her grandfathers barber shop. She was now ready for a change. Gabby signed on to a cruise line to be a barber. For years Gabby has had a crush on Dean but he just got married. She realized that she need to change her life so she selling the barber shop and got new job.
Caleb's family were drunks and in fact he was the first to graduate from high school and go to college.
Caleb first went to Gabby's family farm when he was 12 and was invited over by her brothers to play. He was so impressed with their mom. She made them a stack of sandwhiches for a snack and made them wash their hands. Caleb was lucky to have one meal let alone snacks. He was over to their house a lot during those years. That was where he learned that he wanted a family and what kind of one.
In high school he sat with Gabby and ate lunch with her and her friends. One 4th of july at park Gabby decided to tell Dean how she felt. But Dean home from college brought a girl to the park. Gabby was so upset she went off by herself and cried. Caleb went to her and was comforting and they made love and after Gabby avoided Caleb and would not talk to her.
Now Caleb was moving home and bringing his ten year old daughter. He was still attracted to Gabby and her family too. Was surprised to learn that one night experience was all that Gabby had.
Caleb started courting Gabby and he knew she was moving in a few months time. Gabby was a big help with Caleb daughter.
It was a cute romantic story. I liked the characters. I just enjoyed reading it. I would read more books by Wendy. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.
