No Unturned Stone (The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone,… por David James Warren
I really wanted to see what happened after book one ended on a cliffhanger but this book just didn't do it for me. They tried to explain the time travel and it made absolutely no sense to me. There were a couple of other things in regards to the crime he was trying to solve that also didn't make sense, especially when we find out who committed the crime. The writing was again not amazing. With the first book I could overlook it because the concept of the book was so interesting but this time I was having a hard time getting past it. I don't think I'll continue with this series.… (más)

Piper29 | 4 reseñas más. | Oct 29, 2023 | This is a time travel book about a police officer - Rembrandt Stone - who is left a box of cold case files when his old boss passes away. There's also a watch in the box. He ends up going back in time to when one of the cases - a bombing of a coffee shop - has just occurred. He remembers that there were three bombings three days in a row and so he's trying to solve the crime before the second two bombings occur.
I think it was written in an interesting way because it's told from Rembrandts POV but it's also told from his current wife's POV. He's reacting to her knowing that they will be married some day but she has no idea and so it's interesting to see their interaction.
The plot was really good and I had a very hard time putting it down, but the writing wasn't amazing.
I think I will suffer through the less than stellar writing to read the next one in the series because the book ends on a cliffhanger and I really want to know what happens!
The book is a bit gritty at times and does talk in some detail about the result of the bombing and also mentions some other crimes that occurred including one involving a child so beware if you're sensitive to that.

Rembrandt rocked his world when he traveled back in time in Cast the First Stone. There's just as much action as in the first book, and it's interesting to see how other people's personalities change because of Rem's actions. I just hope he loses some of his arrogance in future books.

Cast the First Stone is an intriguing intro to this time-travel universe. Rembrandt has trouble getting his feet under him, but questions raised and a cliffhanger will keep me coming back for more books.
