1604 The Life and Times of Cardinal Wiseman Vol. II, by Wilfrid Ward (read 20 Dec 1980) This volume had much interesting material, but I was kind of glad to finish the book. The biography is not free of defects to be expected of a book written over 80 years ago. The book tells of the storm stirred by Wiseman's appointment; of the success of Fabiola (which I read Sep 24, 1944) ;and his effort to rid himself of his Coadjutor, Errington.

Not till 1840 was Wiseman assigned to England and of course it was in 1850 when he was made Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster. He seems to have been a very able and holy man, and I find him an impressive man--at least so far. I am enjoying this work greatly.… (más)
