Biografía breve
USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent nearly a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love: writing. When she’s not lost in her own made up worlds, she’s probably either reading or shopping — maybe even both at once. She lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids — one taller than her, one not quite yet — and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it's mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible.

Sexy, readable and satisfying
5 stars

I’m becoming a little obsessed with Brighton Walsh and more specifically, with the McKenzie family of Starlight Cove. This is book 5 and it’s finally time for the only sister - snarky, snappy Addison - to get her happily ever after. You definitely don’t need to have read any of the other stories to read and enjoy this one. But you should read them anyway!

Addison is a task master - running her family’s resort like the little dictator her brothers’ call her. She’s efficient, stressed and not someone you want to mess with. In previous books, I’ve not been fully onboard with her, I’ll admit. Probably because her snakiness reminds me of me! But in this story, all her layers were revealed and she became a well-rounded, likeable character that you couldn’t help but root for. But she never lost that snark!

If there ever was a hero that was all-in for a heroine, then Chase is your man. Addison is his girl from page 1 and that made me full-on swoon. He’s not a creep about it, though. He understands Addie like no-one else does. And her moods, her snark, her sass - he loves every single bit of her. And he knows just how to deal with her. While anyone would love their very own Chase in their life, he was well and truly Addison’s man. As I said - swoon!

Brighton Walsh is queen of the sexy times so it’s no surprise that Chase and Addie have their own special kind of chemistry. It’s hot! They strike sparks off each other but not just in a sexual way. They just work together and there’s a special kind of energy humming around the pair that made me a little giddy. And while the sex does take a little longer in coming (no pun intended) than in previous books, it’s still a lot sexy, a little messy, a little sweaty and a whole lot of amazing!

There’s obviously other things going on in the book. Addison feeling’s towards her brothers and how they’re running the resort; Chase’s knee and ultimately his decision about returning to play pro-hockey; Addison’s father; and the general shenanigans around the town of Starlight Cove. (We also get a teeny tiny glimpse into the next book - Levi’s story - and I. Am. Hooked!) But ultimately this story is all Chase and Addison. It’s the story of how they figured everything out and got their happily ever afters. Everything else is just background to that.

Brighton Walsh is an excellent storyteller and this story is no exception. This is an easy book to read and an easy book to fall in love with. I always know a story is particularly good when I forget that it’s a book I’ve been reading and start to tell people what’s been happening in the book as if it’s happening to people I know. And then comes the inevitable book hangover. All in all, I loved this book. It was easily the best book I’ve read so far this year and it’s one I would definitely recommend.

Food book to decompress with after a long day. Sexy as hell but adorable with her gawkiness and her embarrassing herself.

Sexy, sweet and dirty
5 stars

Brighton Walsh is still a fairly new author to me yet with each new book, I’m amazed at how she can bring me the kind of delicious filth that I didn’t know I wanted or needed in my life.

With this book we’re back in Starlight Cove and with the McKenzie family as another of the siblings meets their match. This is the fourth book and it’s Aiden that gets his happily ever after with his sister, Addison’s, best friend Avery. Yes, that’s a lot of ‘A’ names. While the previous couples and those in the family that are still single, all appear in this book, it completely stands alone which I can doubly attest to since I have yet to read all the previous books in the Starlight Cove series.

When we first meet our couple, and our couple first meet each other, it’s at a bar and sparks fly immediately. It’s a no names, be yourself, spill your secrets, no-holds barred one-night stand. And while glorious, it was also just a touch unrealistic. Well, at least in my experience. Disappointed sigh. I’m always a little uncertain when a couple gets together practically on page 1 of a story. I just never seem to feel the connection that I want between the couple. Luckily this is more than made up for later in the book. More than made up for. More than. I mean, you know what you like, but who knew I was so into pleasure doms? Okay fine, it’s not that much of a surprise but still - I’m here for it. *Shivers*

Avery is a great character and while I can’t say I feel I have much in common with her - except her love of books - I loved her and was rooting for her. She’s something of a free spirit, wanderer sort but she’s still responsible and kind, loving and loyal to boot. She has her reasons for being a bit cautious when it comes to relationships and staying in one place at any one time - and while it’s far from nice, it doesn’t drag the story down into melancholy. I understood why she did what she did at the end - but she definitely needed to do it to find her way home.

I love a man who wears a suit in the streets and unleashes his bad-boy alpha in the sheets. And that’s Aiden to a T. He comes across as quite staid, serious and responsible in public, but he’s really in charge in bed where he can really be himself. Or maybe it’s more accurate to say he’s free to be himself when he’s with Avery. They’re perfect together and I loved to see Aiden relaxing into himself because of his relationship with Avery. Case in point - I’m a sucker for when a man only sleeps well when he’s with his girl. So yes, Aiden was very easily a hero I could get behind.

As I’ve said, Aiden and Avery have fantastic chemistry and unbelievable sexual compatibility. But they’re so much more than that. They truly get on and they truly get each other. It was like watching two jigsaw pieces slowly slot together where they really belonged.

I like a small-town romance but this time we’re definitely more focussed on the Mckenzie family as a whole. As a group, they’re hilarious and have the kind of banter I want to scoop up and devour. Their interactions made me laugh but also made me desperate to go back and read those books in the series that I haven’t got to, yet. It also makes me anxious for the next book I the series, Addison’s story. The man that gets that girl is going to need balls of steel! There is a bit of an upsetting scene with regards to the sibling’s father. It’s not too harrowing, thankfully, but might be triggering to some.

This is another sure-fire winner from Brighton Walsh and another fantastic addition to the Starlight Cove series. She writes such fun, likeable and relatable characters who have amazingly delicious sex. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and salty, sexy and satisfying and I loved every minute of it. If this sounds like your kind of book then I just know you’re going to love it. Definitely 5 stars.

DNF - I had to bail near the middle due to seemingly endless repetition. Even skimming was boring. I liked the characters, but I need more progress and less minute by minute - that's what fiction is for, skipping the boring parts.

Ideally.
