The photographs are large and clear; the alliterative sentences that accompany them (one for each letter of the alphabet)less so. There are too many new logging/lumbering/forestry/silviculture terms (without accompanying photos & labels) for the book to be truly effective. For instance, a skidder is mentioned, so is pulping--no photos are provided of either. Having said that, I did find there were interesting facts here. They just aren't as accessible to kids as I think they should be. Timber! by Jaspersohn is a better choice if kids want to see some of the modern equipment used.… (más)
