THE DOCTRINE AND LITERATURE OF THE KABALAH

PREFACE

FEW educated persons, and certainly none belonging
to the class of students for which this work is more
especially designed, will require to be told that the
Kabalah is a form of esoteric philosophy, that it
makes for itself a high claim, or that this claim has,
from time to time, been admitted by persons who are
entitled to our consideration. Nor will it be needful
to state that the literature called Kabalistic rose up
among the Jews during the Christian centuries which
succeeded their dispersal and the destruction of their
Holy City. It offers a strong contrast to the sacred
scriptures of Israel, which are direct, beautiful and
simple, while Kabalism is involved, obscure and in
many ways repellent as regards its outward form.
The Bible is in focus with humanity; the Kabalah is
distorted out of all correspóndence with the simple
senses, and we must grind our intellectual lenses with
exceeding care if we would bring it into perspective...… (más)

HERMANDAD DE LA ROSA CRUZ

Los factores externos conectados con la Rosa Cruz, han sido tratados con
cierta certeza, por lo que a sus lineamientos generales se refiere dentro de la
historia, justamente un trabajo del cual he sido devoto en el principio de mi
carrera literaria; la obra presente aparece por primera vez en el año de 1887, y
permanece después como un punto de referencia para la investigación general
Me fue imposible por aquellas fechas ir más allá en mis investigaciones, por
ejemplo, en lo que se refiere al simbolismo interno Rosacruciano, que permanece
fuera del trabajo de la primera edición. Las puertas estaban Selladas y no
mostraban sus verdaderas bases, y no iban a romperlas sólo para satisfacer a un
simple estudiante de letras.

Por tanto mi trabajo dependió principalmente de los
recursos públicamente conocidos, como una guia para los precursores de
debates en este tema, pero para ir un poco más allá, era necesaria la presencia de
personas doctas en este conocimiento. Mi primer trabajo tardó mucho tiempo en
er impreso, pero este mismo hecho me dejó una buena cantidad de puertas
abiertas, muchas de las que toqué en 1887, y otras que yo ni siquiera conocía.
Creo que el paso del tiempo ha permitido tratar aquellos escritor de una nueva
forma, y si bien no quedan desvelados todos los secretos de la Rosa Cruz, si
avanza bastante dentro de sus Secretos Senderos, pertenecientes a su Sagrado
Mundo.

En el presente volumen, describiré los factores concernientes al interior
y al exterior de las escrituras Rosa Cruces, como en otras obras mias. La Era
presente parece favorable y me da la oportunidad de presentar este archivo, con
lo que ello genere e involucre en su estudio y en su investigación, especialmente
esto último, caminando mas alla del simple hecho y horizonte histórico, porque
mi trabajo indica otro camino que es perfectamente posible ser seguido por el
estudiante aplicado, suponiendo que esté debidamente preparado, lo que hace
que las mentes profundas giren su cabeza en el sentido de este sendero. Hay
muchos que escuchan en las esquinas, muchos postulantes y pretendientes en las
cercanías de los Secretos Santuarios, esperando a que se abra una puerta o la
página donde puedan encontrar su guía. Por ello, he levantado la
Lámpara del Ermitaño entre las sombras, con el fin de iluminarles y de guiarles
con el presente volumen, aunque al final sean muy pocos los que me sigan.

Existe un gran simbolismo que llega hasta nosotros, a través de las casas de la

REAL HISTORY OF THE ROSICRUCIANS

PREFACE.

BENEATH the broad tide of human history there flow
the stealthy undercurrents of the secret societies,
which frequently determine in the depths the changes that
take place upon the surface. These societies have existed
in all ages and among all nations, and tradition has invariably
ascribed to them the possession of important knowledge in
the religious scientific or political order according
to the various character of their pretensions. The mystery
which encompasses them has invested them with a magical
glamour and charm that to some extent will account for
the extravagant growth of legend about the Ancient
Mysteries, the Templars, the Freemasons, and the
Rosicrucians, above all, who were the most singular in the
nature of their ostensible claims and in the uncertainty
which envelopes them.

"A halo of poetic splendour," says Heckethorn,1 "surrounds
the Order of the Rosicrucians; the magic lights of
fancy play round their graceful day-dreams, while the
mystery in which they shrouded themselves lends additional
attraction to their history. But their brilliancy was that
of a meteor. It just flashed across the realms of imagination
and intellect, and vanished for ever; not, however,
without leaving behind some permanent and lovely traces
