Virginia Vitzthum

This is a really interesting book that has something for everyone whether you date in real life, on the net, or both. It's more than just a look at online dating, it's a book about getting into relationships period with a look at the internet as a common medium. I appreciated the diversity of her research subjects, everything from the out-there Nerve.com to the ultra conservative Eharmony, heterosexuals, homosexuals, and everything in between for both men and women of every age group.

It wasn't exactly a page turner first going in. I like that Vitzthum actually tried the dating herself so she could give personal insight but it could get a bit old at times hearing her stories for some reason. I usually like the personal accounts but maybe her writing style just wasn't terribly engaging for me. And sometimes I didn't understand her references but I can chalk that up to the almost 30 years age difference. I just wish the conclusions she drew were more clear at times.

But otherwise I had a pretty good time with this book and I wouldn't mind reading more about dating online.… (más)
