Blueberry Bungalow brings to life the story of Maci Driscoll as she tries to move on from the death of her husband a year earlier. Selling the home she shared with him prior to his death, Maci finds a lovely bungalow that overlooks a pond inland in Maine, Looking to rekindle her inspiration to paint, she finds the home suits her needs.

Her realtor becomes more than just the person who sold her the house. As the two get to know each other, secrets from Wade’s past come to light. But secrets held within the walls of Maci’s bungalow help to clear up some mysteries.

The story moved at an excellent pace. The town the story takes place in provides the perfect level of charm. I loved getting to know the characters, who,e watching the plot develop. This story proves to be the perfect book to read this summer.

With fresh starts, second chances, and even forgiveness thrown into the mix, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. So check it out for yourself.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Blueberry Bungalow by Konnie K. Viner is a sweet Christian romance. I liked the characters in the story. I thought the characters were realistic and relatable. I enjoyed the descriptions of the charming small town, Maci’s bungalow, the pond, and the blueberry festival. I thought the author captured Maci’s emotions. Maci has been a widow for a year and needs to move away from all the memories. She found a cute bungalow in a nearby town that she makes her own. Maci is a talented artist who has not picked up a paint brush since her husband’s death. The new setting sparks her creativity. Maci begins painting once again. The author painted vivid descriptions of Maci’s artwork. I could imagine them from the word imagery. The romance between Maci and Wade played out nicely. I like that they started off slow allowing time for them to get to know each other. There are two side storylines. Maci has a wall taken down on the main floor of the bungalow. The carpenter, Bill finds a letter from 1965. Maci is taken with the contents of the letter and sets out to get the letter to its intended recipient. An eighteen-year-old girl was found drowned in the pond behind Maci’s home approximately twenty years ago. The case was never solved. Maci learns that Wade had been dating the victim and had been questioned by the police. When new evidence is found, it looks like the case might finally get a resolution. Maci also spends time reading the journals of the wife of the original owner of the bungalow (it was a general store at one time with a post office). This woman’s journey might help Maci rediscover her faith. I enjoyed the epilogue that nicely wrapped up Blueberry Bungalow. Secrets, healing, forgiveness, love, and faith are some of the themes in Blueberry Bungalow. We get to see that forgiving someone helps both parties not just the person being forgiven. We get to see that God never forsakes us or leaves us. He is always there for us when we need Him. Blueberry Bungalow is a charming Christian tale with beautiful bungalow, plein air painting, a lost letter, a cold case, a nosy neighbor, a tender romance, and God’s goodness.… (más)

This has been one of those stories that is a wonderful look at starting over. I adored the setting of the story and could imagine myself walking in town enjoying saying hi to everyone. The author describes the setting as “a sleepy little town.” My first thought was this is where peace is waiting. I was born in a big city but I have always dreamed of living in a very small town where people look out for each other. I loved having this vision of a town like Mayberry and thought the author brought the town to life with delicate touches of scenery and a peaceful atmosphere.

Maci finds the ideal place to relocate after a tragic event in her life. Starting over is not easy and she is very guarded with her heart. I loved that she was an artist who put her feelings on canvas. Her paintings are beautiful and captures the many places that she finds healing and comfort at. We all know that saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Maci’s paintings speak of many emotions and expresses the tranquil setting in each painting. The house she buys has a history she didn’t know about. It was fun to follow her as the mystery begins to surface.

Wade has his share of heartache and I admired him for raising his children on his own. Helping Maci find her new home helps Wade begin to open himself up to a new friendship. They seem to really hit it off and I did like that they both took it slow as they start to spend more time together. Wade does have a secret that he hasn’t shared with Maci that could change everything.

I loved that there were two mysteries in the story that highlights forgiveness, secrets, healing and God’s plan. The faith shared in the story is strong and really illustrates how God is always there when we need him. It was especially nice to see how something from the past brings hope for some and for others a new beginning.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I really enjoyed the setting in this story. The little shop called, The Amaryllis, with all the beautiful flowers and imperfect pots was a place I really wanted to visit. While you were there you could step into Rose's Tea Cozy and enjoy a hot beverage and fresh-baked scones while sitting at "thankfulness tables" and engaging in "conversation starters". There was a lot going on with the characters that kept me trying to figure out what was going to happen. There were also plenty of secrets to keep me turning the pages. Occasionally, I had trouble following the story as it lacked some action on the part of the characters. Several times they "moved" from one scene to the next so abruptly that I was pulled away from the story to figure out if I had missed something. Although I have experienced the heartbreak of betrayal and divorce, I didn't feel like I really connected with the characters. I did enjoy Rose's character, though!

I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.”
