Although the artist certainly has talent and potential, the illustrations in this book vary greatly in style from time to time and are not cohesive. The story starts off strong, but soon becomes confusing. The reader wonders what the chick did her first day of being lost. The text simply says she was lost when the sun came up, then she watched the sunset. The message that beauty is easier to see with a clear mind will be lost on preschool children and older children will be bored with the simplicity of the story. When the chick solves her problem by climbing on a rose petal that then flies her to wherever she looks, many readers will be confused. Prior to that moment there are no magical elements to the story. This story does not flow well and would not make for a good read-aloud nor would it be of interest to most children able to read on their own.… (más)
