This book tells the whimsical story of the letters X and Y landing among the land of numbers called Wontoois. X and Y then discover how some of the numbers are relaxed and even while the others are wild and odd. This discovery leads them to study the numbers more and more. The begin to try to change the way the numbers do things in order to become more similar to the letters way of life. Eventually X and Y both realize they like living among the numbers and they then marry and have both number and letter children of their own. X and Y don’t understand the ways of the numbers and they begin telling them how things “should” be done. The numbers resent the unsolicited advice. X and Y soon realize that meddling with the numbers isn’t a fruitful undertaking and they come to accept the numbers’ lifestyle.
