I have not read a book about hacking before but the synopsis grabbed me and I am so pleased that I was offered the chance to read and review it.

Laura Tisdall is a talented author, her words just flowed perfectly throughout the book, I couldn’t get enough of it.

Mallory was a young girl who put a brave front on her life with her brother, father and friends, although when she closed her bedroom door she managed to be herself by hacking various companies to try and do good.

Being a moderator of a grey-hat hacking forum she was Echo 6 and she was one of the best hackers on there.

She would do anything for The Asker, and she does when he disappears and tries to rescue him with another hacker called Warden. Things do not go as planned, she trusts The Asker but is all as it seems?

This was an amazing novel to read, just when you think you know what is going to happen next there is a twist and it shocks you.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone that likes young adult novels who wants a change from the norm.

If you like me used to be a fan of Hackers and loved Digital Fortress, you are most likely to enjoy the hell out of Echoes.

Mallory Park aka Echo Six is a sixteen year old hacker by night and a young girl with a severe phobia of being touched by day. She battles through her fears every day she goes to school and has to interact with people. She wears gloves and does everything in the least noticeable manner so as not to stand out.

Her dad is an ex-Marine suffering from severe PTSD, her mother left, and Mallory is the one taking care of her father and younger brother Jed.

In a way, her life as a hacker is the one thing that lets her cope with all her stresses and anxieties. Cracking the codes, doing hacks on demand leaves her in control. She is one of the Elites, she is respected and even made into a moderator of the elusive Forum - an ever-changing community of very talented hackers who uncover the truth behind shady corporate practices and share it with the world.

When the admin of the Forum, The Asker, contacts Echo Six with an info that a few prominent hackers have disappeared, he asks her help with locating one of them, his friend and member of the Forum. Then The Asker goes under and Mallory is ready to break all the rules to find him, and to do that she enlists help of her only friend from the Forum, The Warden.

Soon her investigation spirals out of control. Both Echo Six and The Warden are just kids who get entangled in search of a major supervirus, rumoured to be able to change Internet as we know it, and Mallory's phobia doesn't help. Everything is out of control, and the dangers are suddenly very real and physical.

Mallory's style is almost militaristic in its structure, dryness and simplicity. Yet, it's completely believable. Her brain works very differently, and the reader is able to immerse themselves into its thinking process. I really, really liked her. She had all the traits of a kick ass heroine with a strong sense of justice, she was abrupt and paranoid and snarky.

On the other hand, Warden was adorable! A sweet, charming, nice guy, clumsy, nervous and funny, he was a perfect sidekick. They worked really well as a team.

The plot itself was solid. Yes, you could guess the villain way before it became obvious to the main characters, but that didn't diminish my pleasure from this book, which was intense, action packed and very visual. It showed, not told things in the most efficient way. I love authors with no-nonsense attitude, and Miss Tisdall had it in spades. Much recommended, and I'm looking forward to more of her books.

An exciting read with a very emotional tinge. . The writers story is around how a young girl, who struggles with society and the issues its poses, comes alive when she can hide behind a computer screen and hack into systems for the Forum and their leader The Asker. When members of the forum start going missing our heroine is drawn into her worst nightmare as she has to meet with the last member of the forum who hasn't disappeared and solve the mystery.

The beauty of this novel is it will touch a chord with whoever reads it as it will make you think about your own life and where you feel must comfortable. Your inner self will admire the heroine and how much she has to fight to overcome her fears, giving you a bit of strength to conquer yours.

The twists, turns and the air of mystery throughout the story makes for an interesting read.
