Dear Karen,

Every book of yours I read just makes me love your writing all the more. And this delightful forced marriage story? *le sigh* I am in love. IN LOVE!

Amelia is spunky but vulnerable, and just so lovely, I couldn't help but adore her. And Edward? What a rake! Or is he? *wink* Talk about swoony, if a little thick. His plan to woo his wife was so dang funny, and I was a big fan of how he learned through that process. Watching how they overcame their differences and misunderstandings, and fall in love one small step at a time, was so delicious, and I loved every moment. You crafted that so well.

Edward's darling two "aunts" are the cream of the crop. I could not get enough of their feisty personalities and meddlesome ways. They were fabulous!

Once again, you have captured my heart and made me fall in love with your genius. I'm a fan. Forever and always.

Jessica

4.5 stars!

Karen Thornell brings a lot of heart and fun in this funny, sweet, opposites attract, Greenbank romance. Grumpy/sunshine is one of my favorite tropes, especially when the guy is the sunny one. In this story, September or Em isn’t so much grumpy as serious and a workaholic. When a cute guy rescues her during a thunder storm, imagine her surprise when he happens to be her new neighbor. But, Em is in need of more than just a rescue. She’s in serious need of some fun, especially when her only hobbies are sleep and bubble baths.

Garrett learned the hard way that it’s important to know when to relax and have a good time. He sees his somewhat uptight neighbor in need of some changes especially when he finds her crying after learning that everyone in her law office is invited to get together after work except her. He offers her a deal she can’t refuse. But, what happens when he starts to develop feelings for the staid lawyer with a ten year plan that doesn’t include a relationship?

I adored Garrett! Loved all his puns, jokes, and patience with Em. I could relate to Em a little bit. She’s hardworking and wants to do a good job. She also seems a bit shy. She longs to be included, but hasn’t extended herself and learned how to leave work at work. Garrett, though her opposite, is her perfect match. He really helps her to loosen up. When he’s not around, she misses him and definitely notices. I loved the way Garrett handled their relationship and forced Em to really take a look at what’s important in life. All their adventures including rock climbing and swimming at the lake were filled with humor and swoony goodness. It was also fun to see characters from previous books.

Though this is the third book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. It’s a clean, romantic, heartfelt romcom that’s definitely one to add to your TBR list! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

I think the author does a great job at crafting sympathetic characters, so I was easily rooting for this couple to get their happily-ever-after. But this book also contained my least favorite obstacle in fiction: the refusal by both main characters to have a couple of even halfway honest conversations to clear up the things they're worried about in their relationship. The angst went on for a very long time, not to mention being compounded by a couple of conniving enemies that also get a bit tiring after a while.
I enjoy Karen Thornell's writing so much, just as I did in "To Marry an Earl." So it's just that this particular combo of plot points didn't work for me. But I sure do hope to meet up with some of her future plots that are a little more in my line.

I came to the end of this story with a smile on my face because it was just so sweet.
I enjoyed it very much in spite of the fact that the plot included tropes that are not my favorite, such as the hero hiding his identity for a while, and an unhinged baddie intent on ruining the couple's happiness.
Although I prefer less well-trodden plotlines, the main characters in this were so lovable and innocent that they drew me in and had me rooting for them. I thought the writing was good too, and look forward to more from this author!
